Using cornmeal mush for toenail fungus?
Q I tried the suggestion of using cornmeal mush for toenail fungus. I used it twice, and after the nail grew out, the fungus was gone.
A: We heard about using cornmeal to fight nail fungus from a gardener. He told us to put an inch of cornmeal in a foot bath and cover it with hot water to dissolve. Let it cool so you don't burn your feet, then soak them in this mush for an hour.
This is an inexpensive and low-risk approach to nail fungus. Gardeners sometimes sprinkle cornmeal around rosebushes to discourage fungal infestations such as black spot. Perhaps this grain has antifungal properties.

Lamisil and Nail Fungus comments
Many dermatologists today are routinely prescribing Lamisil for nail fungus.
This prescription drug contains the antifungal agent terbinafine. It is taken in tablet form - one pill every day for six to twelve weeks. The longer treatment period is recommended for fungal toenail infections, which take longer to clear up. Terbinafine is a safer drug than many of the antifungal medications that have been used in the past, apparently justifying its use to treat fungal nail infections.
My Comment:
How much "safer" do they mean?

Toenail Fungus and Vicks VapoRub
Toenail Fungus
It turns out that Vicks VapoRub may be just as effective as prescription topical toenail-fungus treatments. Apply it daily to the infected nail and by next year’s sandal season you should be good to go.
